Eos was the goddess of the dawn. She was a beautiful woman who wore gowns of satin and amber. Every morning before the sun would rise she would awaken and dip her fingers in her dish if dew. She would then go about and sprinkle all of the plants and vast meadows with the fresh dew. Eos was also mother of the four winds, Zephyr, Eurus, Boreas, and Notus. Eos lived in a beautiful bright palace in the east. There she lived happily with her husband, Tithonus, and was served with only the finest. She slept upon the pinkest pillows. Eos was also in charge of opening the gates to heaven so that her brother, Helios, the sun, could ride his chariot every day to awaken all of man kind. Eos also had two sons whom were both mortal and went on to fight and die in the Trojan wars. As you can see, Eos was a very important goddess who was sweet and tenderhearted. |
